Bios: Meet the Designers Behind Rug Your City on Kickstarter

Novelists, film makers, fashion designers, architects all tell stories of place through their art. Rug weaving is another way that places have been commemorated throughout history, but the medium is largely inaccessible to a broad design community.  We want to change that.

The designers behind Rug Your City on Kickstarter have a variety of backgrounds: from architecture to fine art, environmental consulting to graphic design.

Terri Chiao co-created "Confetti" with Adam Frezza. She is a trained architect and the co-founder of CHIAOZZA, a Brooklyn-based studio designing and making playful objects for everyday life.  

 

Adam Frezza co-created "Confetti" with Terri Chiao. He is trained in the fine arts and is the co-founder of CHIAOZZA, a Brooklyn-based studio designing and making playful objects for everyday life.  

Jonathan Gonzalez co-created "Intersection" with Office GA colleague, Jennifer Bueso. He is a Miami-based architect and designer, founder of Office GA, and Design Director at Gonzalez Architects.  

Jennifer Bueso co-created "Intersection" with Jonathan Gonzalez. She is a product- and interiors-focused designer at Miami-based Office GA. Jennifer also practices as an artist and maker with studios in Miami. 

Silvia Almonacid is the designer of "Maze." She is a graphic designer who loves turning things around and travelling around the world. 

Amina El-Sharkawy is the designer of "A City Awake." She is a global consultant on environmental issues, pilates instructor, avid traveler and long-time admirer of handmade rugs.  

Alvaro Calleja is the creator of "Chants." He is a designer eager to discover how it all works, how to improve the interaction with what is around us, and is inspired by geometry and patterns.
